HBCU FACULTY DEVELOPMENT NETWORK HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISORY

Dear HBCU-FDN Attendees,

The HBCU Faculty Development Network (HBCU-FDN) Board of Directors (BOD) places the health and safety of its attendees as its number one priority. The HBCU-FDN advises all 2022 Houston conference attendees to take the health and safety of themselves and others seriously by adhering to highly effective scientific evidence that supports vaccines and booster shots to combat COVID and the flu. We suggest that individuals with health concerns consult with their medical professional regarding personal precautions. When combined with preventative measures of masking and sanitation protocols such as frequent hand washing, disinfecting and air movement and filtration systems already implemented by the conference hotel, we believe our face-to-face annual conference on October 20-22, 2022, is a reality.

All attendees are advised to follow the protocols below for the 2022 conference:

  • Be vaccinated at least within the past two weeks or have a negative test no earlier than 72 hours before arrival to the HBCU-FDN conference.

  • Please DO NOT attend the conference if you have a fever, are not feeling well or have a recent positive PCR test.

  • Attendees and presenters have the discretion to wear a mask or not to wear one.

  • Hand-sanitizer will be available in common areas throughout the hotel.

  • The HBCU-FDN will provide sanitizer to individual attendees.

  • The HBCU-FDN will provide masks to individual attendees.

  • The hotel has implemented enhanced and high standards in cleaning guest rooms, common areas, and in serving guests.

  • The City of Houston and the county the hotel is located in experiences the transmission status of “low.” We encourage all attendees to observe the practices identified above.

The HBCU-FDN regrets that we are not able to provide hybrid sessions (a mix of in-person and remote, live video presentations) because of logistical and financial prohibitions.
